Tailbook

Terms of Use

Effective October 2026. These terms are the agreement between you and the makers of Tailbook ("we") for using the Tailbook iPhone app. By using Tailbook, you agree to them.

Tailbook is not veterinary advice

Tailbook helps you keep your pet's records, log what you notice at home, and follow plans your vet gives you. It is not a veterinarian and not a veterinary service. It doesn't examine your pet, diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment or tell you how much medicine to give.

Always follow your veterinarian's advice. Medication doses come from your vet and the label. Recovery plans, weight targets and exercise limits should be set or approved by your vet.

Emergencies

If your pet may be in danger, call your vet or the nearest emergency vet right away. Don't wait on an app. For a possible poisoning, you can call ASPCA Animal Poison Control at (888) 426-4435 (a fee may apply).

Tailbook's emergency checks and emergency screens are there to point you to help faster. They can't spot every emergency, and a check that doesn't flag anything doesn't mean your pet is fine.

Ask answers

Ask gives general information. Emergency checks and food-safety answers come from fixed lists in the app. On supported iPhones, general answers are written by Apple Intelligence and can be incomplete or wrong. Use them as a starting point for a conversation with your vet, not as a decision.

Who can use Tailbook

Tailbook is for adults 18 and older in the United States. Please use it only for lawful purposes and only for your own pets or pets in your care.

Your information

What you enter in Tailbook stays on your iPhone. You're responsible for checking that what you enter or scan is accurate, and for keeping your own copies. You can export your data from Settings in the app. If you lose your phone or delete the app without an export, we can't recover your data, because we never had it.

How we handle information is described in the Privacy Policy.

Free, and provided as is

Tailbook is free. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties that it will be accurate, error-free, always available or fit for a particular purpose. Reminders depend on your iPhone's notification settings and may not arrive.

If we add paid features later, we'll tell you what they cost before you pay, and update these terms first.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any harm to you or your pet, that results from using or relying on Tailbook. Our total liability for any claim about Tailbook is limited to the amount you paid us for it, which today is zero. Some states don't allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Apple's terms

You get Tailbook from the App Store, so Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If these terms and Apple's conflict, these terms apply to the extent the law and Apple allow. Apple is not responsible for Tailbook or for supporting it.

US law

Tailbook is offered in the United States. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where Tailbook's developer is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the effective date on this page. If a change matters, we'll also tell you in the app. Using Tailbook after a change means you accept the new terms.
