Tailbook

Support

Answers to common questions, and how to reach a person.

Is this an emergency? Call your vet or the nearest emergency vet now. For a possible poisoning, call ASPCA Animal Poison Control at (888) 426-4435 (a fee may apply). Email support can't help in an emergency.

How do I add a pet?

The first time you open Tailbook, it walks you through your first pet: dog or cat, name, breed, birthday (an estimate is fine), sex and weight. A photo is optional; without one, your pet gets a cartoon avatar.

To add another pet later, go to Settings and tap Add a pet. Every pet is free.

How do I scan a vaccine card?

Open Records for your pet and tap Scan. Lay the card flat in good light and fill the frame. Tailbook reads the card on your iPhone and shows each field it found.

Check every field before you save, especially dates, lot numbers and the rabies tag. Fix anything the scan misread. Nothing is saved until you confirm.

How do I export my data?

Go to Settings, then Export or delete my data, and choose Export. Tailbook makes one file with everything, and you choose where to save or send it.

To share with a vet, boarder or sitter instead, use the pet passport in Records, or the vet report PDF in the health log.

How do I delete my data?

Go to Settings, then Export or delete my data, and choose Delete. Everything is erased from your iPhone right away and can't be undone, so export first if you want a copy.

There's no account to delete and nothing stored on our side.

What do I need for Ask?

Emergency checks and food-safety answers work on any iPhone that runs Tailbook, with or without a connection.

General answers are written by Apple Intelligence on your iPhone. For those you need an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro and newer models), with Apple Intelligence turned on in the Settings app under Apple Intelligence & Siri. On other iPhones, Ask still runs the emergency checks and food-safety answers.

Can I use Tailbook in an emergency?

Call first. Tailbook is not a substitute for a vet, and it never diagnoses or gives doses.

While you're on the way, it can help: Ask's emergency checks point you to urgent help, the seizure timer keeps time and shows an emergency screen, and the pet passport puts your pet's key records on one page for the emergency vet.

My reminders aren't showing up.

Reminders are iPhone notifications. Open the Settings app, tap Notifications, find Tailbook and make sure Allow Notifications is on. Focus modes can also hold them back.

I'm getting a new iPhone. What happens to my records?

Your records live on your current iPhone. Before you switch, export your data from Settings and keep the file somewhere safe. Moving your phone with an iPhone backup or Quick Start normally brings app data along too.
